Avenues - Autumn 2005

Welcome to the autumn issue of Avenues. This issue features two very important
articles:
BECOMING YOUR OWN ADVOCATE
The next article in our Becoming Your Own Advocate series addresses
the issue of cancer pain management. Gwendolyn Stritter, MD, a pain specialist
in the San Francisco Bay Area, outlines her approach
to successful pain management and discusses the benefits of an integrative
strategy that combines both pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques. Click here to read more. PUBLISHED RESEARCH
The September 2005 issue of Integrative Cancer Therapies featured
our meta-analysis of the use of Chinese herbal medicine in combination with
chemotherapy for patients with primary liver cancer. This project follows
our earlier meta-analysis work (see "What
is Meta-analysis?")
in which we analyzed studies that investigated Chinese herbal medicine for
chronic hepatitis B, which is the world’s leading cause of primary
liver cancer. Click here to read more.
Your generosity is integral to the success of our mission and we hope
you'll continue
to support our work during the coming year.
Best wishes,
Michael Broffman, LAc
Michael McCulloch, LAc, MPH
